Harsanyi accuses me of "making up" the fact that prominent Republican Aurora City Councilman Ryan Frazier is a Republican. No, I'm dead serious. He's actually accusing me [0] of "making up" the fact that a high-profile Republican politician is a Republican - and perhaps even more hilariously, he's making this accusation as "proof" that I don't "correct" my supposed mistakes.
Now, just in case anyone was wondering, Aurora City Councilman Ryan Frazier is a Republican - and is very public about his GOP label. How do we know beyond Frazier's right-wing politics [1]? Let's see. He was a member of the Republican Leadership Program Graduate Class of 2002 [2]. He is also a member of the Colorado Black Republican Forum (CBRF) - one who is listed right on the CBRF's website as a bragging point [3].
The person who needs to issue a correction and an apology is the esteemed right-wing dittohead, Mr. Harsanyi - for libeling me by claiming I "made up" Frazier's Republican affiliation. See, David - it's called "fact checking." Before opening your trap - you should try it. It ain't hard - it takes all of 5 seconds on Google. You claim you made "a call"...but to whom? The Secretary of State's office? Because if you had, you might have found out that there is only one "Ryan Frazier" registered in the Colorado voter file in Aurora. That Ryan Frazier, age 29, is registered as a Republican. So did you really make "a call?" Or are you "making it up?"
Why is this skirmish important to readers? Because it is a very good example of how, in general, right-wing dittoheads have become used to just flinging out unsubstantiated nonsense - and when anyone dares to present the facts to the contrary, they are accused, Joe McCarthy/Bill O'Reilly-style, of hating America [3].
What a hackneyed formula, really. Please - let's stick to the facts and stop the deliberate libel (I say it is deliberate because I assume that, as a Denver Post columnist, David, you know how to use Google, and know that Frazier is a prominent Republican politician). This tit-for-tat - especially when it is so fact-free from the right-wing bloviators - is just tiresome.
