Former Colorado Senate President John Andrews is chairman of Backbone America, a national conservative alliance. He writes a Sunday column for the Denver Post, does daily commentary on Channel 12, and hosts Backbone Radio on 710 KNUS, Sundays at 5 p.m. MST.
In January he will team-teach a DU adult enrichment course on the politics of 2008 with fellow blogger David Sirota.
Andrews is also a fellow of the Claremont Institute, an appointee of President Bush on the foreign scholarships commission, and a consultant for legislative leaders in many states. He has been a submarine officer, a speechwriter for President Nixon, an education appointee for President Reagan, and the 1990 Republican nominee for governor of Colorado.
In current politics, John has donated to the Tancredo and Romney presidential campaigns, is co-chair of Wil Armstrong for Congress in CD-6, and a campaign adviser to CD-5 Congressman Doug Lamborn as well as CD-6 Regent candidate Jim Geddes.
In addition, he serves on the executive committee of the Arapahoe County Republican party and heads an issue committee called Limit the Judges, which campaigned for judicial term limits in 2006 and will do so again in 2008. He was chairman of Ask First Centennial, which successfully passed a paycheck protection ballot issue in 2007.
