The national committee staging the 2008 Democratic National Convention announced today it has hired a "Director of Greening" - a first for the party.

Andrea Robinson, a longtime environmental advocate, will work to find ways to make the preparation and conducting of the convention as environmentally friendly as possible, said Leah Daughtry, the Democratic National Convention Committee chief executive, speaking at the committee's third "Convention Conversations" forum in Boulder.

Robinson recently managed greening efforts for former Vice President Al Gore's Live Earth Concerts in New York, Shanghai and Johannesburg.

In August, the local host committee for the convention announced its own
"Director for Greening." [1]
