Colo. Gov. gets an A- on environmental scorecard

Gov. Bill Ritter has received an A-minus from Colorado's conservation groups for his leadership on environmental issues in his first year in office.

The Colorado Conservation Voters, a political arm of environmental groups, released its annual gubernatorial scorecard Thursday. Carrie Doyle, the group's director, said Ritter, a Democrat, delivered on campaign promises of promoting renewable energy and wise stewardship of natural resources.

But Ritter got an "incomplete" on growth issues and was marked down because of his stance on the Roan Plateau. He's promoting stronger protections for public land on the plateau but didn't recommend against drilling on the top as environmental and outdoors groups wanted.
