The post below from David Sirota is an interesting take on Iraq. But nowhere -- absolutely nowhere -- does congressman Doug Lamborn assert, contend, state, imply, suggest or admonish the "Troops for Not "Wanting" to Win In Iraq." One need only read the article to see this as an absolute falsehood.
UPDATED: I should have been more specific. If Lamborn implies anything, it's that politicians in Washington don't have the will to win. I'm not sure I agree. But he certainly didn't fault the troops. Nothing in the CSG article comes in the vicinity of asserting that he did.
UPDATE II: Sirota deflects below to non-related issues, as usual. This is the Lamborn quote: "Progress is being made, but it does not happen overnight," Lamborn said. "If we want to win this war, we can."
Is Lamborn in the Marines? Because if he isn't, the word "we" means politicians not the troops. And when you read his next quote, he speaks about the battle over Iraq in Washington. No amount of spin can change what he means. Nice try though.
UPDATE III: Just 'cause I can.
John Kerry hates the troops but Lamborn is misunderstood
It seems fairly clear to me when I'm in a crowd and use the word we I usually mean those who are in proximity. How come Republicans are always misunderstood when they make a gaff but Democrats always hate the troops when they make one. Kerry didn't botch a joke he really really meant to belittle the troops but poor Dougie was a victim of vicious misinterpretations. It would be nice if Harsanyi would at least be consistent but what can you expect from a Bush Republican lapdog. You can always count on Dave to slant the news to fit his bias.
