He’s been called representative, auditor, mayor and now ambassador but to Stephanie O’Malley he’ll always be just plain old Dad.
O’Malley shared her thoughts after a story in today’s Denver Post talked about how her father, Wellington Webb, has been nominated as a public delegate to the United Nations. Once confirmed, his official title will be “ambassador.”
“’Ambassador Webb’ will always simply be ‘Dad’ to me!” O’Malley, Denver’s first elected clerk and recorder, said in an e-mail.
“He’s that dad who I have watched make some of the most critical decisions while watching The Magnificent Seven and memorializing his thoughts with pen and paper rather than coming into the age of technology and using a computer,” she said.
“It’s a natural for him to be at the U.N. where he can be face to face with people from all over the world. There’s nothing that he appreciates more than being in the midst of all types of people and making a difference in the world all at the same time.”
Webb served in the state House and as Denver city auditor before being elected Denver mayor for three terms, from 1991-2003.
