UPDATED THURSDAY 10 a.m. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is scheduled to visit a medical clinic for the homeless north of downtown Denver on Thursday afternoon.

As reported by the Denver Post on Wednesday, the California Democrat is planning to tour Stout Street Clinic, a walk-in medical facility and pharmacy run by the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless.

The clinic is receiving funds from the federal stimulus package, part of which will help build electronic medical records to cut down on duplication and health care costs.

Rep. Diana DeGette, a Denver Democrat, and vice chair of the committee crafting the House’s health reform bill, and Rep. Jared Polis, D-Boulder, are also scheduled to attend.

A release from DeGette's office said the 2 p.m. event will give lawmakers a firsthand look at "how the economic recovery funds are being used to offer vital health care services, create jobs, and lay the foundation for health insurance reform."

The congressional trio will also discuss health care reform efforts in Washington.
