Western Democrats – including a Colorado contingent – are getting a big role on stage today as part of the final day of the Democratic National Convention.

Elbra Wedgeworth, who heads the local committee hosting the convention, spoke from the podium, citing Western states as an election battleground.

Gov. Bill Ritter, Reps. Diana DeGette, Ed Perlmutter and Rep. John Salazar are also on tap. In the 6 p.m. hour, Rep. Mark Udall is scheduled to speak (followed by Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine) and then New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson.

Mountain-state politicos will be watching to see to what degree the Coloradans reach out to Western voters.
