What the anti-Al Jazeera protesters are saying in Golden

From a group of about 18 protesters, all white and mostly between ages 30 and 60, here's what they said about why they were objecting to the Al-Jazeera/English interviews taking place across Washington Ave. inside the Buffalo Rose:

Clayton Woodworth, in a white cowboy hat and a "Proud American" white t-shirt:

"Al-Jazeera is a propaganda machine for Middle Eastern terrorists. They'll be welcome in my town when one and all of my friendsa are welcome in Mecca. And you know how welcome you'd be in Mecca? They'd shoot you. I object to Al-Jazeera because they see to it that a lot of bullets get shot at my boys. They're mean to women, they beat 'em and they won't let 'em go to school or learn anything. I don't have a problem with Muslims. I have a problem with Islamists. A Muslim, if they want to build a mosque in this country and worship in it, then that's OK with me. But an Islamist wants to change America to meet their end goals. I'm against that. I get my research from life experience."

Rob Alinder, also in a white cowboy hat and a "Proud American" shirt:

"They're Islamic, and there is a separatism between Qatar and us. I thought it was a good move with city manager Mike Bestor dis-invited them from the barbeque. I wouldn't have minded if it had just been a private party, but I heard it was to be a public political platform where he would let Al-Jazeera interview family and friends. I don't have a beef with Muslims. I have a beef with extremists. The owner of the Buffalo Rose has a first Amendment right to have Al-Jazeera in his private business, and I have a First Amendment right to be out here protesting that. The difference between Al Qaeda and Al Jazeera is that Al Quaeda is military, and Al-Jazeera claims to be legitimate, but they're not."

Three of the signs at the protest:

"Al Jazeera is Terrorism in English or Arabic"

"Al Jazeera is funded by Satan's Terrorists"

"Al Jazeera is the media arm of Al Qaeda"
