Here's some of the loot -- and no, the Joint Juice is not what some of the Recreate '68 folks might first think -- in the delegates' schwag bags from Goodwill, which manages some of my favorite sources for clothing, shoes, school supplies, etc. HAve a look at Goodwill's answer to eBay. Trawling through the art listings usually reveals some real finds, and most of those come from the Albuquerque, NM, Goodwill, where a lot of original and signed art from Santa Fe seems to show up, along with the classics.
DNC Delegate and Media Bags!
I was heavily involved in overseeing the production of stuffing the Media bags. We had 14,000 bags to stuff at Goodwill Industries in Denver. We had the assistance of volunteers to help us stuff the media bags and we were able to accomplish this task in less than 14 days thanks to all the wonderful people that assisted us.
The Delegate bags were also stuffed at Goodwill Industries, but the DNC Host Committee paid Goodwill to stuff these bags as they employ handicapp individuals which is for a good cause.
The majority of the items that were placed in both Delegate and Media bags were made of recycled products along with the actual bag itself. The DNC's focus was to make this the most Green Convention/event as possible and Denver far exceeded this. Hopefully by making this the greenest convention ever will set an example for future conventions down the road.
