UPDATE: More on the Dem "town hall" concept, with speakers list
Some bullet points from a morning media call with Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and Anita Dunn with the Obama campaign about the program for the Democratic National Convention, Aug. 25-28.:
- The overall theme is "American's Town Hall," including the solicitation through Aug. 27 of e-mail and videotaped questions from the public, some of which will be answered on stage at the convention. More details at http://www.demconvention.com/townhall
- Monday night's program will be "America at a Crossroads" with Michelle Obama. Tuesday night is "Renewing America's Promise," focusing on economic issues, with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. Wednesday night's program will include honoring America's veterans, capped by an address by the vice-presidential nominee. Thursday night is nominee Barack Obama's acceptance speech at Invesco Field at Mile High.
- No word yet on who will be the V.P. nominee, but every potential vice-presidential choice also has a speaking slot. Since the full program is not yet set, that leaves a lot of possibilities. Separately, no announcement on a speaking slot for former President Bill Clinton. Asked whether John or Elizabeth Edwards would speak, Dunn answered by citing a media report Friday that made it sound unlikely.
