Sen. Salazar backs Obama, calls Dobson "sincere"

Reacting to Focus on the Family leader James Dobson’s comments on Sen. Barack Obama, Sen. Ken Salazar said today that Obama is “a man of faith.

“He’s been a man of Christian faith for his life,’’ added Salazar, a Colorado Democrat. “I don’t question the sincerity of his faith.”

Salazar, who in the past has accused Dobson of making anti-Christian remarks, did not criticize Dobson, instead saying, “I don’t question the sincerity of Mr. Dobson’s comments.

“But I do believe that a the end of the day that Barack Obama is very, very true and very authentic to his own faith. I’ll leave it at that.”

Dobson on Monday accused Obama, the assumed Democratic presidential nominee, of “distorting” the Bible.

“He's deliberately distorting the traditional understanding of the Bible to fit his own worldview, his own confused theology,’’ Dobson said on his radio broadcast. "He is dragging biblical understanding through the gutter.”

Salazar as a teen-ager spent two years at a Franciscan seminary in Ohio.

Oh, the bravery!

The intrepid Sen. Salazar never disappoints. He supports Obama. He supports Dobson. Isn't that fence you're sitting on, Senator, starting to chafe? Just a little?
