DES MOINES -- Though it is dangerous and foolish to take pop songs too seriously when they're played on the campaign trail, what a strange juxtaposition has just occurred: When Hillary Rodham Clinton took the stage in Louisville, Ken., to discuss her huge win in The Bluegrass State and to make her case that the race for the Democratic presidential nomination isn't over, the warm-up band for Barack Obama here started playing. The band's first song, which all but drowned out a televised broadcast of Clinton's speech for a groups of reporters trying to take notes, was that old Rick James' tune: "Super Freak."
As Clinton outlined her reasons for staying in the race, the constant thrum of the band continued.
"She's a super freak," the vocalist sang. "She's super freaky."
