"In a world where branding your opponent is the first rule of political success, pronouns are a luxury that campaign operatives in Colorado apparently can't afford," writes Michael Riley.
Look closely at Colorado's U.S. Senate race and you'll likely notice a trend: name-calling. Dick Wadhams, campaign manager for Republican Senate candidate Bob Schaffer, has taken to referring to rival Mark Udall as "Boulder liberal Udall."
Schaffer's Democratic opponents are hurling their own labels: "Big Oil Bob", "Shifty Schaffer," and "Abramoff crony Bob Schaffer."
