Ross Kaminsky is a libertarian-leaning blogger and columnist as well as a professional derivatives trader. He blogs at his own site, Rossputin.com, as well as being a regular contributor to Human Events. Ross also blogs occasionally for FreedomWorks and the National Taxpayers Union. Ross is a fellow, and former director, of the Heartland Institute (Chicago).
Ross occasionally guest-hosts talk radio shows in northern Colorado (and would be pleased to guest host elsewhere.)
Ross is a passionate defender of liberty and free markets, and is not shy about criticizing politicians of any political stripe who erode our freedoms, undermine our Constitution, or meddle in our private or economic lives…and particularly those who want to tax us for the privilege of being made less free.
Ross’ letters and full-length opinion pieces have appeared in the NY Times, the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, the LA Times, the Washington Post, the Washington Times, the Christian Science Monitor, and, of course, The Denver Post, as well as numerous other publications and Web sites including (believe it or not), The Namibian.
Ross graduated from Columbia University in 1987 with a degree in political science. Since then, he spent 15 years as a floor trader at the Chicago Board Options Exchange and the Chicago Board of Trade, as well as trading in Amsterdam. In 2003, he moved to Sydney, Australia, as he says “chasing a girl”. Apparently, he got her, because he’s now married to Kristen, with whom he has two children (and two dogs that they treat like children).
Although having kids has reduced Ross’ ability to enjoy the adventure travel he loves, he still tries to scuba dive when he can. Ross also enjoys good books, tribal art, snowboarding, great wine, dark chocolate, and, of course, a good political or economic debate.
