New Mexico on GOP target list
4/1/2008 - 4:01pmThe national chairman of the Republican Party said Tuesday the GOP is targeting New Mexico in the presidential race and is taking sides in one of the state's contested primary campaigns for a congressional seat, reports the Associated Press. In addition, state GOP chairmen from across the country are gathering in the Albuquerque area this week. Below is a recent report from KRQE in New Mexico about the first general-election ad aired by Sen. John McCain, the presumptive GOP nominee. The state's GOP primary is June 3.
In New Mexico's Democratic president primary Feb. 5, Hillary Clinton narrowly beat Barack Obama. New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson endorsed Obama last month, drawing the ire of the Clinton camp.
