Initially, superdelegate and Iowa Democratic Party vice-chairwoman Sarah Swisher endorsed John Edwards. When he dropped out, she moved to Hillary Clinton's camp. But when the union Swisher belongs to recently voted to back Barack Obama, she switched again and pledged to support him.
Swisher is a member of the Service Employees International Union, which has 4,987 members in Iowa. The union represents nurses - Swisher's profession - other health care workers, Head Start teachers and school support staff. It is the fastest growing union in Iowa.
Swisher's switch still leaves Iowa as a wild card when it comes to superdelegates. Governor Chet Culver has endorsed Obama, but the remaining superdelegates are Hillary fans or uncommitted. Obama won 38 percent of caucus support while Edwards garnered 30 percent. Clinton trailed with 29 percent.
