Donna Brazile, a CNN commentator, uncommitted Democratic Party superdelegate and the campaign manager for Al Gore’s presidential run in 2000, doesn’t hold back. The New Orleans native addressed an audience of more than 200 people on Thursday in Denver at the Tivoli Turnhalle.
Below are some of her comments.
On being a superdelegate:
“I’m a superdelegate. As you can see, we don’t wear capes. We don’t drive a batmobile. I got here on Frontier. No one would want to see us in Spandex.”
“We’re the gravy, not the potatoes.”
“The reason I have a seat on the DNC (Democratic National Committee) is because it was paid for in blood by Fannie Lou Hamer.”
On backing DNC rules that don't count Michigan and Florida delegates because those states held early nominating contests:
“We need to send a message that you can’t defy the rules.”
“We should not hold a (nominating) contest until the winner of the Super Bowl is known.”
“I have pissed off just about every state in my career.”
On Democratic presidential also-ran Dennis Kucinich, a congressman from Ohio:
"Dennis Kucinich is someone who I agree with on all the issues. He has a 100 percent voting record in my book."
On Republicans:
“When people are standing in the hot sun, needing water, you don’t fly by in Air Force One,” referring to Hurricane Katrina and President Bush.
“Is he the brain - or the tail on the donkey?” referring to Karl Rove.
“You know how you deal with a real conservative man? You touch him,” referring to how she said she disarms fellow TV commentators such as Bill Bennett, former U.S. Secretary of Education.
On the Democratic nominating battle between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama:
"I don't really want to tell you who I'm for, because I'm for both of them."
“I never thought I would see this day.”
“If Barack Obama had lost 11 straight times and lent $5 million to his own campaign, we would have thrown him off the bus...and under the bus.”
“You can’t run a female candidate (Hillary Clinton) as an incumbent, establishment candidate.”
“I’m hoping that this nomination will come to a close without the Democratic Party spilling blood.”
On the Democratic National Convention being held in Denver:
“I’ll be honest with you, I wanted New Orleans.”
“Denver will now be written in the history books."
On Ralph Nader running for president:
“I don’t think there’s a constituency for Ralph Nader. For Americans who want health reform, they can back a Democrat. For Americans who want us to get of Iraq, they can back a Democrat. There aren’t enough crumbs on the table for Ralph Nader to make a difference in this election cycle.”
“I don’t blame Ralph Nader exclusively for what happened in 2000. Again, had we won Tennessee, this election never would have ended up in the Supreme Court.”
What's the reason why African Americans are voting for Obama 91%
Rozz62 - Your reasoning and those who make the same argument fall flat. In Oct '07 - 68% of Black Women and 50% of Black Men indicated that they were voting for Hillary Clinton. In 1998, 84% of Blacks voted for President Clinton. Why the shift? Once Hillary figured out she had a real opponent, instead of arguing the issues, she turned on her base (African Americans) and started in on the race baiting. Most Black folk are extra keen when Whites start with the "code" words that are disparaging remarks. I for one was on the fence. They are so close on issues, (except that stupid gas tax "I'm for you" thing), so, unfortunately, it is down to other elements besides issues. He has stayed above ground, she has worked it from the gutter, plain and simple.
Obama camp have been calling African-American superdelegates to
The majority of the American Black community claims that they want to live in a society where discrimination doesn't exist, but appears they are not practicing what they are preaching. when Obama continually pulls 90%+ of the black vote, it's obvious that most blacks are voting for a candidate because of skin color. The odd thing is people like John Lewis who marched for equal rights jumps on the prejudice bandwagon, I’m sure he realizes what it does to his credibility. Obama camp have been calling African-American superdelegates to target, harass and threaten,” said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II (D-Mo.), a superdelegate who supports Clinton. Cleaver said black superdelegates are receiving “nasty letters, phone calls, threats, being called an Uncle Tom. Rep. Diane Watson, D-Calif., also is receiving several e-mails from individuals saying they won’t vote for her if she doesn’t change her support to Obama, she should vote for him because she, too, is black. Rep. John Lewis, a black civil rights icon, sadly enough has given into the racial threatning politics of the Obama camp and switched his support from Clinton to Obama.
THEN SHOULD ALL WHITES AND WOMEN VOTE FOR CLINTON?
Black men were given the vote a half-century before women of any race were allowed to mark a ballot, and generally have ascended to positions of power, from the military to the boardroom, before any women .Why is the sex barrier not taken as seriously as the racial one? Why is the black candidate given the continued media free pass and coronation and refusing to discuss his record. My family and friends have been following the 2008 Presidential election and feel overwhelming compelled to express our sadness, disgust witnessing the continued unfair disturbing treatment that Senator Clinton continually receives from men in the media. WE were frankly surprised to see how many men are threatened by Senator Clinton’s abilities, just read the articles. The daily gender discrimination and horrible names Senator Clinton is called, forced my family and friends to research candidates like obama ourselves since the media is no longer fair and unbiased. A black man has a better chance in this country than a white woman. It’s a shame that media keeps the race issue going in an attempt to disguise their gender discrimination against smart educated and powerful women. WE are tired of the race card that the media is creating and pushing in the face of voters. The media has dropped the ball. We the viewers and most importantly the VOTERS looked to news stations and newspapers for unbiased FACTS about ALL the presidential candidates to assist voters on making a wise and educated decision on who will run our country. Unfortunately you prove daily/hourly that your biased and often racial tabloid news It’s a disservice to our great country that you attack and discriminate a white female Senator and Former two term First lady who has done a great deal of good in 35 years of political service to our country that is dismissed and ignored for fear of upsetting a black candidate and his racial supporters. You should be ATLEAST reporting the differences and giving obama the same microscopic personal attacks that you continue to do to a white female United States Senator. You have no credibility in reporting the news. If we wanted this type of so-called news, we can buy the National Enquire. Women in this country should stand up and not be bullied by these men who do all they can to keep women underpaid and treated unfairly.

SEE OBAMAS CONNECTION WITH SADDAM HUSSEN AND REZKO!
Land deal 'mistake' piles the pressure on Obama Mr Auchi, leading supplier of arms to Saddam's regime and convicted for corruption in France, the British-Iraqi billionaire lent millions and millions of dollars to Barack Obama's fund just weeks before an imprudent land deal investigation. In addition money transfer from Nadhmi Auchi, Obama used to buy his Georgian mansion in Chicago. Mr. Auchi says the loan, through the Panamanian company Fintrade Services SA, was for $3.5 million!!!. Mr. Auchi's money was made doing business with the regime of Saddam Hussein, Mr. Auchi was a leading supplier of arms to Saddam's regime. A former Belgian ambassador to Luxembourg charged that a bank in Luxembourg owned principally by Mr. Auchi laundered funds -- including oil for food money -- for Saddam and other Islamic dictators. Auchi helped French and Italian firms win a huge oil pipeline contract in Iraq, chiefly by paying off Iraqi officials, according to testimony given by an Italian banker to prosecutors in Milan. In 2003, he was convicted for his role in what was then the largest scandal in French history, involving payoffs from executives of the oil company now known as Total to political figures in Spain, Germany and Africa.. The connection between Mr. Auchi and Sen. Obama is cause for great concern in the U.S. The national news media have been remarkably incurious about Sen. Obama's relationship with Mr. Rezko, and his with Mr. Auchi. The Obamas bought the house for $1.65 million -- $300,000 below the asking price -- perhaps because Mr. Rezko's wife purchased from the owner an adjacent garden plot for $625,000. (The sellers deny they offered the Obamas a discount.) The Times of London wondered where Mrs. Rezko got the money to buy the garden plot. At the time, she had a salary of $37,000 and assets of only $35,000, the Times learned. Her husband told a court that at the time he had "no income, negative cash flow, no liquid assets," the Times said. Auchi participated in more than just Rezko's pizza and property ventures, however; he also contributed to Barack Obama's campaign by donating to a 2005 fundraiser through a company of which is wife is a Director. I quote the relevant paragraph from a London Times exclusive: Times has, however, discovered state documents in Illinois recording that the Panamanian company Fintrade Services SA lent money to Mr Obama's fundraiser. Fintrade's directors include Ibtisam Auchi, the name of Mr Auchi's wife. Mr Auchi's spokesman declined to respond to a question about whether he was linked to this business. The donation is significant, obama is the Ill politican mentioned in the following ABC News report on the FBI affidavit filed in US Attorney Fitzgerald's case against Rezko before Obama's political godfather was arrested on Monday: According to an FBI affidavit filed in the case, Rezko sought to get a visa for Auchi to visit the United States by contacting "the same Illinois government official ( Obama)
